Manakamana Temple is a popular Hindu temple located in the Gorkha District of Nepal. The temple is situated atop a hill at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. There can be reached by a cable car ride from the base station. It is around 106 KM far from Kathmandu & around 96 KM from Pokhara. Manakamana temple is a Hindu sacred temple which is an incarnation of goddess Parvati. The name Manakamana is derived from two words, which Mana, means “Heart” and Kamana, means “Wish”. Hence it is believed by some persons who visited Manakamana goddess shrine, fulfilled their heart’s wishes.
According to legend, the goddess is said to grant the wishes of those who make the journey to the temple to offer their prayers and devotion. So many pilgrimages come to worship here once in a year. This temple is built in the traditional Nepali pagoda style with two storeyed. Manakamana Cable Car is the first Cable Car Service of Nepal which is an ISO certified company & operated by Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Chitawon Co-E Group. It was founded by Late Laxman Babu Shrestha. The Mankamana cable car commercial operation services were started on 24 November 1998.
